NACOGDOCHES, Texas- Now that the school year is over, and before we begin the 2013-14 academic year, SFA athletics wanted to take a look back at the Top 25 Moments from the 2012-13 season.
For the first time since the 2011 season, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks softball team recorded a win over a Top-25 program by knocking off No. 23 North Carolina in the 10th game of the season during the Aggie Classic in College Station on Feb. 16, 2013.
Junior starting pitcher Carlie Thomas held the nationally ranked Tarheels (40-21) to just two runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking just one while working around eight hits.
The victory also marked a spectacular career milestone for SFA head coach Gay McNutt, who recorded her 500th career win in her 19th season.
The Ladyjacks took advantage of three UNC errors in the third inning, leading to four Ladyjack runs and never looked back after taking a 5-1 lead.
SFA chased Tarheel starter Ashley Bone after just 2.1 innings. In the contest SFA got hits from Elizabeth Arana, Charlotte Singleton and Alexis Callan.
Check back on Friday, June 14th for #SFATopMoment No. 23.
