    2010 SFA Softball Schedule

Fifteen home dates highlight the 2010 Stephen F. Austin softball schedule, announced Wednesday by the SFA athletics department. The Ladyjacks are slated to play a total of 24 home games with eight doubleheaders scheduled for their first season at the new SFA Softball Field.

SFA opens the season on Feb. 12-14 with four games in the Mississippi State Bulldog Classic, an event that features North Texas, Alabama-Birmingham and Mississippi State. The Ladyjacks then return home for a doubleheader against North Texas on Feb. 17, before heading back to Mississippi for a second tournament. SFA will compete in the Southern Miss Mizuno Classic on Feb. 20 and 21, in head coach Gay McNutt's first return to her former employer since taking over at SFA for the 2008 season. The tournament schedule includes games against Louisiana Tech, Alcorn State, Notre Dame and Southern Miss.

Once they put tournament play behind them, the Ladyjacks have road doubleheaders at Texas A&M (Feb. 23) and Houston Baptist (Feb. 24) before returning home to open Southland Conference play with a three-game series against Sam Houston State on March 2.

SFA follows that series up with a trip to San Antonio to take on UTSA, then heads back to Nacogdoches to begin the longest home stand of the season. SFA hosts Houston Baptist and Monmouth in doubleheaders on back-to-back days (March 10 and 11), then hosts a weekend series against Northwestern State starting on March 13. The Ladyjacks conclude the nine-game home stand with a doubleheader against Louisiana-Monroe on March 20.

The remainder of the regular season is sprinkled with four non-conference dates, including a home-and-home single-game exchange with Centenary College and a road doubleheader against Louisiana-Monroe.

The conference slate includes home series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (April 2 and 3), Southeastern Louisiana (April 17 and 18) and the regular-season finale against Texas State (May 8 and 9).

The Southland Conference Tournament is scheduled for May 13-15 in San Marcos, Texas.
