Dr. Luis E. Aguerrevere is entering his second season as a volunteer assistant coach with the SFA women's tennis team. Aguerrevere is also currently serving as an assistant professor in the SFA psychology department.

"I'm very excited to add Dr. Aguerrevere to our staff," said head coach Patrick Sullivan. "A lot of tennis teams would pay big money to bring in someone with his high-level international and collegiate tennis background paired with his expertise in sports psychology, and we're incredibly fortunate that he has been kind enough to give his time freely. The girls respond really well to him and have already benefited greatly from his guidance, and so have I. Most of all, Luis is just a great guy and a lot of fun to have around the team. We're proud to count him as our friend and glad to welcome him to the SFA tennis family."

Aguerrevere has extensive experience working with women's tennis. Prior joining the SFA staff, Aguerrevere has spent time as a sports psychologist for the Venezuelan junior national team.

A native of Barquisimeto, Venezuela, Aguerrevere's research interests are neuropsychological assessment, malingering detection, and examination of the contributory factors related to outcome in traumatic brain injury and chronic pain patients. He has also worked with the New Orleans School-Age Assessment Service, where Aguerrevere did clinical work with a variety of patients including those with learning disabilities and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

Aguerrevere also participated as a mentor for student-athletes at the University of New Orleans helping with their study and writing skills, helped set academic goals and control their anxiety during competition.

During his playing days, Aguerrevere was the No. 2 ranked junior player in Venezuela. A four-year letterwinner at Tennessee Tech, Aguerrevere was a three-time all-conference selection, and still ranks among the school's all-time top 10 in career wins and winning percentage. He received his bachelor's degree from Tennessee Tech in 2004. Aguerrevere received his masters degree from New Orleans in December 2007, and his PhD in Applied Biopsychology from UNO in December 2010.
