WACO, Texas -
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team took a break from its dual match spring schedule to compete in the HEB-Baylor Invite last weekend in Waco. Instead of a dual match format, the Baylor Invite was based on individual results similar to the fall schedule.
"I was proud of the results from this weekend," said first-year head coach Stephanie Wooten. "We played some very tough competition and I saw some definite improvement from the season opener. We played in a lot of close matches, and I think we are progressing in a positive direction as we prepare for the Southland Conference season."
The Ladyjacks recorded six singles victories over the three days led by freshman Valeria Terentyeva and junior Laura Servise, who each finished the week with two wins. The Ladyjacks picked up wins over Texas-Arlington and Houston during the three-day tournament.
SFA returns to dual match action Friday when they travel to Austin, Texas to face Utah in the opening round of the ITA Kickoff. SFA will return to the court Saturday to face either host Texas or Wichita State. Match times have not yet been set for either day.
