NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team held a two-point lead late in the match, but Louisiana-Lafayette rallied for a 4-3 victory Saturday at the Schlief Tennis Complex. The loss drops SFA to 1-5 on the season.
The Ragin' Cajuns held a 1-0 lead after taking the doubles point but SFA came storming back winning the first three singles matches. Sophomores Malena Gordo and Julia Lorca combined to give SFA a one-point lead with their victories at Nos. 1 and 2 singles, respectively. Freshman Valeria Terentyeva gave SFA a two-point lead with her 6-4, 6-1, victory over Juliette Clement at No. 5 singles. But that would be SFA's last victory of the afternoon as UL-Lafayette rattled off wins at Nos. 3, 4 and 6 singles.
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday when it will host Louisiana Tech. The match against the Lady Techsters is slated to begin at 1 p.m. from Schlief Tennis Complex.
