The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team lost to North Texas, 4-3, Friday afternoon at the SFA Tennis Courts. The Ladyjacks are now 2-2 (.500) on the young season.
The match would be decided in the doubles play as two teams split the singles play. North Texas picked up singles victories at Nos. 1-3 singles but the Ladyjacks rallied to win the next three matches. Junior Megan Langston defeated the Lady Eagles' Ashley Sammis, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5 singles to SFA on the scoreboard. Junior Kama Scott tied the singles scoring when she picked up a 3-6, 6-4 (10-6) win at No. 6 singles.
But the Lady Eagles gained their advantage in the doubles winning two of the three matches to win the doubles point, and eventually the match. The duo of Johnson and Langston picked the Ladyjacks doubles win with an 8-2 decision at No. 2 doubles.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday Feb. 26, when they host Abilene Christian and North Central College at the SFA Tennis Courts. The match against Abilene Christian is slated to begin at 9 a.m., with the second match getting under way at 2 p.m.
