SFA defeats UTSA, 6-1, Saturday in Nacogdoches.

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (6-7) jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back beating UTSA, 6-1, Thursday afternoon at the Schlief Tennis Complex in Nacogdoches.
The Ladyjacks made an early statement by sweeping all three doubles matches with identical 8-4 scores. Reigning Southland Conference Player of the Week Malena Gordo continued her strong play as she gave SFA a two-point advantage with her straight-set victory at No. 1 singles.
Leading 3-0, the Ladyjacks got the match-deciding point from freshman Kateryna Bugayenko at No. 4 singles. Bugayenko defeated UTSA's Daniela Garcia-Diaz, 6-3, 6-2 for the win. The Ladyjacks tacked on another point at No. 5 singles before UTSA cracked the scoreboard. SFA closed out the match when sophomore Julia Lorca recorded a three-set win over the 'Runners' Isabelle Jonsson, 6-3, 5-7, 10-6, at No. 2 singles.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday when they travel to Tulsa, Okla., to take on Oral Roberts in conference action. The match is slated to begin at 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
