TULSA, Okla. -
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team (7-7//3-0 SLC) posted a 5-2 victory over Oral Roberts Saturday morning to move to .500 on the season. It was the team's fourth-straight win and keeps SFA atop the Southland Conference standings with a 3-0 record.
Leading 1-0 after the doubles competition, sophomore Malena Gordo continued her strong singles play posting 6-3, 6-2, win over ORU's Melanie Martin at No. 1 singles. The Ladyjacks also received dominating performances from the bottom of its singles lineup as freshman Valeria Terentyeva picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory over the Golden Eagles' Tori Dollar, and junior Laura Servise followed suit with a 6-0, 6-1, win over Rachel Scroggs at the No. 6 spot.
The Golden Eagles were able to dent the scoreboard with victories at Nos. 2 and 4 singles, but SFA had built an insurmountable lead. Freshman Margot de Haan finished out the scoring by picking up a victory at No. 3 singles. SFA finished the day by recording four set shutouts.
SFA returns to action Sunday when they travel to Conway, Ark., to face Central Arkansas. The match against the Sugar Bears is slated to begin at 10 a.m.
