The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team (9-10) traveled to Waco, Texas, Sunday to face Baylor for its third match in as many days. A strong opponent, at the end of three-day swing was made that much tougher by the fact that SFA had to face the Lady Bears without two starters. The disadvantage proved too much to overcome as SFA dropped the match, 6-1.
Baylor jumped out to an early 3-0 lead after taking the first two doubles matches for the doubles point, and the first two singles matches due to injuries. Junior Laura Servise was moved up to No. 4 on the tennis ladder and picked up a big victory for the Ladyjacks. She knocked off BU's Abby Stainback, 6-2, 7-5, at No. 4 singles, but that would be as close to the overall victory as SFA would get.
The No. 42-ranked Bears improved to 11-13 on the season.
The Ladyjacks return to action Saturday when they travel to Lake Charles, La., to face McNeese State. The match against the Cowgirls is slated to begin at 1 p.m.
