Central Arkansas proved to be too strong for the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack tennis team Saturday afternoon recording a 6-1 victory in Texarkana, Texas. The match was a make-up date from the originally scheduled contest that was postponed due to inclement weather in Conway, Ark.
The loss drops SFA to 10-12 on the season, and 5-4 in Southland Conference play.
It was a tough day from the beginning as the Ladyjacks could only manage one victory in doubles play. The Sugar Bears held the momentum dropping only one singles match. The lone Ladyjack victory came at No. 5 singles where junior Laura Servise recorded a 7-5, 6-4, victory over UCA's Sasha Ruocco. SFA also forced three-set matches at Nos. 1, 2 and 4 singles, but came up short in each match.
The Ladyjacks return to action Friday when they travel to Beaumont, Texas to open play in the Southland Conference Championships. The tournament will be hosted at the Thompson Family Life Center.
