FRISCO, Texas - The Southland Conference released its list of 2017 Women’s Tennis All-Academic Teams Thursday and among the student-athletes listed were a pair of Stephen F. Austin players - sophomore Liza Aginskaya and senior Denise Maxl.

Aginskaya earned a spot on the seven-member All-Academic First Team while Maxl was recognized with a spot on the All-Academic Second Team. Both Aginskaya and Maxl possess a perfect 4.0 GPA.

As a result of being named an All-Southland Conference First Team Doubles performer at the conclusion of the 2017 regular season, Aginskaya received an automatic selection to the All-Academic First Team. The product of Dneprodzerjinsk, Ukraine, recently wrapped up her sophomore season in a Ladyjack uniform while majoring in finance. On the court, Aginskaya racked up a team-best 11 singles wins and competed in the fourth, fifth and sixth flights throughout the course of the season. In doubles play, Aginskaya posted a combined record of 10-4, but excelled when paired with fellow sophomore Kaja Ljubic as the pair went 8-3 overall and 7-2 in league action in the number-three flight.

The conclusion of the 2017 season also marked the end of Maxl’s collegiate career. From Vienna, Austria, Maxl put together a 9-13 record in singles play during her senior season while competing exclusively in the number-one flight. She posted a mark of 6-4 in Southland Conference matches and in doubles play Maxl went 8-12 and 5-4 in league play. The award is presented annually to the student-athletes who has best achieved the balance between outstanding athletic performance and scholastic achievement.
