Gordo and Terentyeva Named Second Team Academic All-SLC

FRISCO, Texas - Junior Malena Gordo ands sophomore Valeria Terentyeva were named to the second team Academic All-Southland Conference for the Stephen F. Austin women's tennis team, announced Thursday afternoon by the league office.

Godro, a theatre major and Spanish minor, maintained a 3.31 GPA to pick up her second second-team academic honor of her career. Terentyeva, a physics major and engineering minor, held a 3.69 GPA. The academic honor is the first of Terentyeva's career.

Gordo was the most consistent Ladyjack this past season, playing both the No. 1 and No. 2 singles. Gordo turned in a 16-7 overall record and an 8-4 mark in conference play. The native of Buenos Aires, Argentina, also finished 10-9 in doubles, playing all but one match in No. 1 doubles. Gordo finished 7-3 in doubles in SLC play. 

Terentyeva mirrored Gordo's consistency, posting a 17-4 overall record and finishing 9-2 in the middle of singles play, between No. 3, No. 4, and No. 5 singles. She also picked up one win in No. 1 singles. The native of St. Petersburg, Russia, was 2-1 in No. 3 doubles.
