TUCSON, Ariz. - Junior shortstop Hunter Dozier has been named a Louisville Slugger first team all-America selection as announced by Collegiate Baseball newspaper Thursday morning. The teams were based on performances up to this weekend's regional playoffs and were selected by the staff of Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
Dozier was named the Southland Conference player and hitter of the year before last week's Southland Conference Tournament, and is the third Lumberjack to ever be named to the Louisville Slugger all-America team; however, he is the first SFA player to be named to the first team.
The junior finished the season by leading the Southland Conference in batting average (.396), home runs (17), doubles (25) and slugging percentage (.755), ranking in the national top five in all of those categories.
His 227 career hits and 59 doubles ranks him first all-time at SFA. He is projected to go in the first two rounds of next week's MLB Draft.
