Kohne Promoted To Second Assistant On Men's Staff

NACOGDOCHES, Texas-- Stephen F. Austin State University men's basketball head coach Danny Kaspar announced today the promotion of Darren Kohne to the number two assistant's position for the coming year. Kohne fills the spot left open when Rennie Bailey resigned to accept the top assistant's position at the University of Louisiana-Lafayette. Kohne worked last season as the number three assistant for Kaspar, helping the team to a 21-9 record and its second straight Southland Conference tournament finals appearance. "It gives me great pleasure to announce that we have moved Darren Kohne into the position left vacant by Rennie's departure. He did a very good job for us last season and Darren deserves this," said Kaspar. The 2000 graduate of Toledo came to SFA from High Point University in North Carolina, serving as an assistant there for one year. He has also spent time at Bowling Green State University and has coached several AAU teams and at the high school level. SFA opens the season with an exhibition game, Nov. 11. ™
