'Jacks Lose Last Home Game of the Season 45-17

The Lumberjacks won the coin toss and elected to differ to the second half. Southern Utah received the opening kickoff to start the game. SFA's secondary stopped the Thunderbird offense from crossing midfield as Justin Miller's pass was intercepted by Dylan Tooker.
SFA was unable to get any momentum on their opening drive which resulted in a Max Quick punt that downed Southern Utah at their own 14-yardline. The Lumberjack defense held strong following a Dylan Tooker forced fumble that made the Thunderbirds punt it away.
The first points of the game came on Southern Utah's 10-play 46-yard drive that brought them into range for a 34-yard field goal. Tyler Graham's kick gave Southern Utah a 3-0 lead with 2:49 in the first quarter.
Following another Lumberjack punt Southern Utah began another late quarter drive down the field. With 1:06 left in the opening quarter Amad Murray forced his second fumble of the year after he pushed a Thunderbird lineman into the quarterback. It was Murray's third recovered fumble of the year.
Chris Campos got the Lumberjacks on the board with his 42-yard field goal. With this kick, Campos tied Jordan Wiggs (349) as the all-time leading scorer for SFA. The Lumberjacks evened things out 3-3 with 14:19 left in the second quarter.
SFA's defensive pressure kept the Southern Utah offense stagnant through the majority of the second quarter. The Lumberjack offense got Campos in range for a 48-yard field goal that doinked off the goal posts and kept the game tied at 3-3 with 4:27 in the second quarter.
The Thunderbirds found the endzone first with :22 left in the half. Justin Miller's 10-yard touchdown pass to Targhee Lambson gave Southern Utah a 10-3 lead going into the half.
Stephen F. Austin got the ball to start the second half. Their drive stalled out after an offensive pass interference call pushed SFA deep into their own side of the field.
Southern Utah began their first offensive drive of the second half. Following a targeting penalty on the Lumberjacks, Justin Miller found Isaiah Wooden for a 39-yard touchdown pass. With 12:49 in the third quarter Southern Utah led 17-3.
With 7:02 left in the third quarter the Thunderbirds extended their lead to 24-3, following Justin Miller's 38-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Wooden.
SFA finally found the endzone for the first time after Preston Weeks connected with Cameron Dotson on a 46-yard touchdown. Chris Campos converted on the PAT making him SFA's all-time leader in points scored (350). With 6:48 left in the game SFA trailed 31-10.
Following another Southern Utah touchdown Preston Weeks began a late fourth quarter drive for the Lumberjacks. With :03 left in the game Weeks recorded his second touchdown of the quarter after he found Isaiah Davis for the 7-yard touchdown.
Stephen F. Austin lost the last home game of the season as they fell 45-17 to the Thunderbirds. SFA will cap off the 2023 season next week when they travel to Richmond, KY to play Eastern Kentucky University.
